Maidstone’s new radio station seeks volunteers.

On 16th June Maidstone Community Radio (MCR) is holding an open volunteering event to introduce potential volunteers to the new community radio station coming to Maidstone.

Stuart Baker a Director at MCR said “We’re bringing community radio back to Maidstone and we’re looking for volunteers to get involved in this exciting project. It doesn’t matter whether you have any experience, all we need is your enthusiasm”.

Maidstone Community Radio is a joint venture between Kent Digital Media Group and the Maidstone Community Support Centre, which has been providing services for various charitable organisations and local community groups and businesses since 1986.

The station will play a mix of chart hits and classic tracks mixed with local information, news and specialist programming, but most importantly will be focused on engaging with the local community, business and charities of Maidstone.

MCR are looking for people to get involved in a broad range of positions at the station covering Journalism, Studio Maintenance, Music research and scheduling, Producing, Fund Raising, Project Management and of course Presenting shows!

If you’d like to get involved you can register your interest at www.wearemaidstone.com or turn up on the day. Those that attend will have the opportunity to operate a real radio studio.

The event will be held from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 16th June at the Maidstone Community Support Centre, 39-48 Marsham Street, Maidstone ME14 1HH.
